Right foot. Left foot. Breathe.

I heard this quote the other day and couldn’t not share it. It’s such a simple, yet powerful way to move through each moment, each day, shoot – your whole life.

We all deal with some sort of overwhelm and/or anxiety in our daily lives. It varies in the level of intensity for each of us, and each of us may handle it differently, but ultimately, it’s there no matter what.

And sometimes it can feel like it’s all-consuming. Literally all-consuming. Like it’s taking over every freaking thing we do – or scratch that – TRY and do, because we’re consumed by the anxiety.

And while it feels like you just want to shut down and curl up in a ball, what really helps is to just keep moving. One foot in front of the other, and you’ll move through it.

Right foot. Left foot. Breathe.

And since I know you now have anxiety about having anxiety and are thinking, “Abby, how can you just tell me to ignore my anxiety?! I mean, I don’t know how I’m going to do it! I have ALL this anxiety that is caused by this, and this, and THIS! And now you’re telling me to just ignore it, brush it off, and just move my FEET?! Ugh. This gives me so much ANXIETY!!”

Sound familiar? 😉

Well, slow your roll and just take a deep breath. What I’m saying is that when you have something that will inevitably always be there at SOME point in your life, like anxiety, the best thing to do is to know it’s there, but not stop to give it all this credit that it’s BEGGING for.

And when you do find yourself giving into its begging by wanting to just curl up and do NOTHING, instead, just know that you don’t have to move mountains, go all out and do everything at once, or figure it all out right now. All you have to do is put ONE foot forward. Then another. Then breathe.

And before you know it, you’ve moved through that anxiety-ridden time, made it to the other side, and can function at your best.

Just don’t have anxiety about when you’re going to have anxiety again. 😉
